Adderfoot probably should have started his journey to the Moonfield by now. Sure, he still had a lot of time that he could waste, but then he would have to hurry if he wished to make it on time. Not that he really did.
It had been over a moon since Redleaf had died, and he still had not yet completely recovered. He had skipped the Gathering two moons ago and the meeting at the Moonfield, and had stayed hidden for the entire last Gathering. Adderfoot had almost decided to stay at the camp for this next Moonfield meeting as well. After being so dramatic in his mourning, he honestly didn't want to have to deal with conversations with these cats that were almost guaranteed. The new medicine cat hated talking to them already. Dealing with them tonight without being rude would be difficult, and he didn't want to start off on a bad note with the others. His other choice, however, was to stay at the camp and avoid everyone else all night. The chances that someone would come try to talk to him about his obvious unwellness were just as high as an awkward conversation with cats from other clans. When faced with the choice between talking to cats that he hardly encountered, and talking to cats that he had to live with, he chose the former option. Even if he still wasn't eating much, and had completely withdrawn into his den, he could still pretend to be getting better. Adderfoot didn't want cats focused on him. It made him nervous, and honestly the sooner everyone moved on the sooner he could as well. And perhaps that was part of the reason he was making the journey tonight: To see Redleaf and put his mind at rest.
Or maybe he was trying to pretend that he was actually doing this of his own choice, and actually was terrified of leaving, and would rather just stay here and live with his clan mates but couldn't because he had to grow up at some point. He wasn't allowed to be a scared little kit anymore, he had to actually get up off the ground and go face his fears. He had done this before. It wasn't that bad. If he just pretended he was fine, he would be.
With that thought in mind, he got up from his nest and started for the entrance. Better that he leave now, before he had second thoughts.
